We've recycled nearly 1 million tonnes of waste since we launched online back in 2003, providing a full range of skip hire services across the UK and Ireland from 2 cubic-yard Mini Skips, 4-Yard Midi Skips, 6 to 8-Yard Builder Skips, to 10, 12 and 14-Yard Maxi Skips and 20-40 Yard RORO (Roll On, Roll Off) skip containers.

We've even made video demos for you below to help make sure you get the right skip size for your job (there's nothing worse than having a skip that's too small for your waste!).

Birkenhead is a town within the Metropolitan Brough of Wirral in Merseyside. It is opposite the city of Liverpool, in the Wirral Peninsula on the west bank of the River Mersey. Historically, the town was a part of Cheshire and has an estimated population of 84,000.

Birkenhead is perhaps best known as a centre for ship building, as a seaport and all the other related industries. Ship building started in the area at around 1829, notable vessels built at Birkenhead include HMS Achilles, HMS Affray, CSS Alabama and HMS Ark Royal as well as many others. Ship building and ship repair still features strongly in the local economy today.

Birkenhead Market was first established on what is now the site of Birkenhead Town Hall in 1835. The town saw an increase in population in 1841; this led to the opening of a much expanded market on a nearby, but much larger larger site. Michael Marks, the founder of Marks & Spencer, opened one of his first seven 'Penny Bazaar' stalls in Birkenhead during the 1880s.

The commercial centre of the town was redeveloped and worked on around the main shopping area in the 1970s. Birkenhead Market was moved again following two fires, the new premises now adjoin the Grange Shopping Precinct development. In the early 1990s, the commercial expansion continued when the Pyramids Shopping Centre was opened.

With constant regeneration, the area has always had a high demand for the service of skip hire - particularly on the commercial side of things.

Birkenhead skip hire costs relating to permits form some of the biggest expenses with skip hire in Birkenhead. A skip permit is only required if there is a need for the skip to go onto a public highway. We, at Topskips, are able to organise your skip hire permit for you if required.

Should you require a skip hire permit for Birkenhead then the local council ask that 3 full days' notice be taken into consideration before they are able to issue your permit.

For costs and skip permit durations you can either call us at Topskips or speak to your local council for the information. If your skip permit needs renewing then the original costs and timescales will apply.

At Topskips we also provide a Wait and Load service. Should you choose to use this service it can keep your costs at a minimum (it also prevents passers-by and neighbours from dumping waste into your skip!) Our wait and load wagon is sent to the required address along with an empty skip and it will wait for half an hour whilst you may dispose of all waste. This is a handy service to use for eliminating any permit costs.

Whatever your requirements are Topskips can help.

Skip Hire Permits

If you are placing a skip on the highway, your local council may require you to get a permit to do so. This varies from council to council. Some councils charge for this, some do not.

We can often sort this for you, although sometimes the council may require you to do it yourself. For further advice on your particular council, call our skip hire team on 08445 60 77 10 or visit our skip hire permits page.
