Remains of Mona Lisa model ‘end up in rubbish dump’
Every now and then, you find something special in a skip or rubbish dump.
But it’s not often that the remains of a world-famous artist icon are among the findings.
Lisa Gherardini, who is reckoned to be the Mona Lisa model painted by Leonardo da Vinci, was originally buried in a crypt upon her death in 1542.
Unfortunately, her contents were destroyed by building works for a landfill site in the 1980s.
The woman with the inscrutable smile is no more.
Perhaps she’ll be re-incarnated as a skip.

A Streetcar Named Skip Hire
We may never know whether Tennessee Williams had skip hire in mind when he wrote A Streetcar Named Desire, but the chances are, he probably didn’t.
That said, wouldn’t it be special to see a fabulous work of fiction dedicated to our favourite pastime?

Why not hire a skip in Gloucestershire?
Residents in south Gloucestershire might want to hire a skip to show their dedication to responsible waste disposal.
The local council is making a push to promote the collection of bottles and food waste in the area.
From November 22nd, each home in the neighbourhood will receive a set of three collection bins.
Let’s hope it encourages locals to give recycling the thumbs-up.

Skip hire could come to the rescue down under
For many residents in Australia, skip hire is at the forefront of their minds this year.
Northern Territory locals have had enough of lazy, idle, boneheads who dump rubbish in open spaces.
According to the Katherine Times, the culprits are “too lazy to put [the waste] in the skip bin placed outside … if it’s closed on the weekend”.
Will there be a backlash? It might be said that more Aussies than ever before will get on the phone and order a skip.

Skip hire in London: Belgravia residents get that sinking feeling
A water leak appears to have caused a skip to sink in an expensive residential road.
News that Belgravia locals woke up to a large crater in the middle of Chester Row might have caught the attention of those seeking skip hire in London.
The Evening Standard reports that the skip contained soil from excavations, which were designed to create a cinema and gym in a nearby house.
Famous faces who reside in the area include Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea Football Club, and former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
