Council Hire a Skip To Fill With Bras!
Hire a skip for Breast Cancer.
When Hertsmere council delivered a load of pinks skips to their community, they demanded the public fill it with one thing and one thing only: Bras.
In the end they collected a massive 17,193 bras that weighed over a tonne. Why the bra fetish? Well, the plan is to ship them over to under developed countries and give them out to the women who need them.They are also raising money for breast cancer.
Councillor Jean Heywood said, ”By recycling your bras not only will less waste be sent to landfill but women in poorer countries will benefit and you will be helping to fund research into breast cancer.”
Good on you guys. We may look a bit weird throwing a bagful of bras in to a skip, but if it’s for such a great cause, then we’ll have a rummage around our underwear drawers tonight!

How Skip Hire Can Furnish a House
Ever think that skip hire was just muck and old tat? Take a look at the guy above, he’s managed to furnish his entire house with furniture and fixtures he’s found in skips. Pretty impressive, eh? The practice, known as Skip Diving is being employed more and more by eco and money conscious individuals. Furniture your life on a shoestring, with a list of dos and don’ts for Skip Diving:
Dress for the mess – A pair of thick gloves is a must. Avoid evening wear and tennis whites
Move fast – Don’t leave a skip until next day – if it’s not gone, anything useful inside it will be
Stay off private property – If you have to jump a fence to get at it, you’re on dangerous territory. CCTV is everywhere these days
If you can’t use it, pass it on – check out places like Freecycle
Scout the best spots – Building-site skips contain rubble, mostly, but some will have usable timber. House clearances are usually the best source of skipped treasure

Health and Safety in the Topskips Office
We don’t do things by halves at Topskips.com, skip hire, roro hire, site waste management plans…health and safety is also a big priority. That’s why Matt in the office takes it upon himself to make sure he’s well covered if a stray lever arch file falls on his head, or a leaky biro bursts on his clothes…

Skip Hire Hammersmith
Just had a call for skip hire Hammersmith for tomorrow morning. There would be no problem with this, but the customer didn’t have a driveway to plonk the skip on, and therefore would need a skip permit.
To make matters worse, the customer’s council is Hammersmith and Fulham, a council that seems to take pleasure in making the permit application process as drawn out and costly as possible.
So, in the end, we couldn’t actually do it. The customer is organising the paperwork with the council first, and then will ring us when (if?!) the permit arrives.

Skip Hire UK
There are so many skip hire UK stories that are sent to us every week, tales of finding bizarre objects and so on, you do wonder at the time when what some people consider rubbish, another person considers a gem.
Take for example the two Star Wars helmets rescued from a film studio skip that were sold for nearly £20,000 each at a Christie’s auction of film memorabilia in London. The Imperial Stormtrooper helmets featured in the desert sequence of Star Wars: A New Hope, which was filmed in Tunisia.
All 12 used during the shoot were thrown away, but two were later recovered from a skip at Elstree studios.
They were in slightly different conditions and one sold for £19,200 with another fetching £18,000.
Next time you walk past a skip, might be worth your while to have a quick peek in – you don’t know what you’ll find!

Celebrity Skip Hire Customer 3
Next on our celebrity role call is a Mr Nice himself, Howard Marks who was after mini skip hire in his hometown in Wales.
He booked and paid for his skip online, and then emailed saying he needed another skip. I rang him and we organised an exchange over the phone. He was very nice and charming (and I have to admit I swooned a little at his voice – deep and Welsh…mmm…).
All in all, a top chap. Any time, you need a skip, Mr Marks, ring us on 08445 607710!
