A Streetcar Named Skip Hire

We may never know whether Tennessee Williams had skip hire in mind when he wrote A Streetcar Named Desire, but the chances are, he probably didn’t.

That said, wouldn’t it be special to see a fabulous work of fiction dedicated to our favourite pastime?

This is how much skip hire means to Leytonstone residents

If there’s any doubt about how much skip hire means to Leytonstone residents, news of a fly-tipping breach in the area could speak volumes.

A staff member at Waltham Forest Council was responsible for fly-tipping in someone’s skip, leading to an apology from the authority.

According to the East London and West Essex Guardian Series, builder Dale Oseman was shocked when he discovered boxes belonging to the council dumped in his container.

He was disappointed at the apparent hypocrisy, in light of high-profile anti-fly-tipping campaigns in the area.

It needn’t put you off skip hire in London, as the council happily collected the boxes on hearing the news.

Skip hire in Borehamwood and Greater London could undergo changes

Anyone seeking skip hire in Borehamwood and Greater London might be interested in the rubbish disposal changes announced by Barnet Council.

The authority will no longer send letters to residents detailing the dates when skips will be made available, according to the Times-Series.

In fact, locals will now receive a stripped-down version which encourages them to check information online.

This comes as part of cost-cutting measures announced by the council.

Budget skip hire: Cat abandonment ‘a sob story to end all sob stories’

A cat called Shandy and her young kitten have been found abandoned in – you guessed it – a skip.

But this isn’t just a typical sob story, because luckily the little baby has been re-housed, while Shandy waits with bated breath for the foster home of her dreams.

According to the New Rochelle Patch, the moggies were placed in a cardboard box that had been put in a rubbish container.

If you’re looking for budget skip hire without a cat inside, you’ve come to the right place.

Skip hire could come to the rescue down under

For many residents in Australia, skip hire is at the forefront of their minds this year.

Northern Territory locals have had enough of lazy, idle, boneheads who dump rubbish in open spaces.

According to the Katherine Times, the culprits are “too lazy to put [the waste] in the skip bin placed outside … if it’s closed on the weekend”.

Will there be a backlash? It might be said that more Aussies than ever before will get on the phone and order a skip.

High skip price in France leads to horse-drawn cart innovation

You might not believe it, but horse-drawn carts are helping many French towns with rubbish collection duties.

Officials in locations such as Perpignan have compared the typical skip price with the cost of hiring equines.

What did they find out?

Naturally, it was determined that waste collection should be carried out by horses.

Jean Baptiste, the mayor of Peyrestortes, told the Guardian that the town’s medieval street layout made it difficult to bring out vehicles and skips.

Roads would often be blocked off, much to the chagrin of irate neigh-bours.

Mr Baptiste extolled the virtues of the approach, explaining: “The exhaust smells have gone, the noise has gone, and instead we have the clip-clop of horses’ hooves.”
