Recent skip hire and recycling news reports that Apple now offer cashback and recycling in UK
The new service, currently operated by big company Dataserv, is currently available to anyone in the US but was only offered to Europe recently.
A spokesman for Apple said “Whether it’s an iPhone, iPad, Mac or PC computer, working or not, we’ll take it and determine if it qualifies for reuse and has a monetary value. If it does, the amount will be credited directly into your bank account. If it doesn’t, you can recycle it responsibly through one of our free recycling programmes,”
Once the item looking to be recycled has been valued it can be sent in for a tidy profit and even items with no value can be sent in for free!
This doesn’t mean that this company will take all your waste however when looking to get rid of your old T.V in your skip or using skips and skip hire in general to get rid of things like your fridge-freezer or computer screen there may now be another option. It may also change what skip size you’ll need thus reducing the cost of skip hire.
Makes the saying “Where there’s s*** there’s money” hold true even in this current climate!

Skip Founder laid to rest in his own bespoke coffin!
Coffin of John ‘Butch’ Nash was towed through his home town on a skip lorry
John’s coffin was paraded via a skip lorry as it weaved its’ way through the streets of Portland in Dorset in December 2011.
Mr John Nash, who was 64 years old was also known as “Butch” and was the founder of a skip hire company in Dorset since 1997 and was known to be exceptionally generous by donating tens of thousands of pounds to many local charities.

Hiring a skip in Devon? Make sure you avoid a cat-astrophe
No doubt hiring a skip can be a rewarding process, but that didn’t stop staff at Foredowne Kennels being faced with a disaster of cata-strophic proportions.
They noticed a noise coming from a taped-up box inside a skip scheduled to meet the crusher.
After opening the flaps, staff were stunned to find Poppet the cat.
Local publication This Is Devon reported that the white moggy had been abandoned by its owner.
Happily, the cat received medical treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
The rest of the skip’s contents didn’t live to tell the tale.

Why Chorley loves skips
One Lancashire town has continued its pro-skips agenda by helping locals get rid of their rubbish in the run-up to Halloween and Bonfire Night.
Chorley Council is holding skip days on October 27th to allow residents to get rid of unwanted items, rather than burn them.
Previously, the local authority ran the Skip It, Don’t Tip It initiative.
The free community event gave people a chance to recycle cardboard boxes, table legs and tree branches, among other items.
It’s safe to say that Chorley loves a bit of skip hire.

Prices of Skip Hire
So you’ve been shopping around for prices for skip hire, and to say they vary is putting it mildly.
You ring up one company and are quoted a price with no VAT, then you ring another company and it’s fifty quid more with VAT. So what do you do?
Think smart.
Don’t go with the cheapest skip price. Those type of deals normally end in disaster. A lot of cowboy companies promise the lowest prices – they also normally have the worst service. Go with the company you feel assured with, who asks question about your particular situation and who sound the most professional. If they are more expensive than the other lot – don’t worry. A couple of quid more is a lot better than having a festering skip on your private land for the next six months! Good luck!
