We ran out of mini skips for hire last week – everyone who was carrying out work on their properties had booked them all out for the bank holiday weekend. Mini skips, despite their name, can hold a considerable amount of rubbish – between 2 tonnes of muck and around one tonne of mixed waste. They’re really handy for domestic jobs where small scale jobs are concerned.

A mini skip is small. It’s about 4 feet long and 3 foot wide and 2.5 feet high.

However, they’re extremely useful. They are key to domestic jobs and for finishing large scale jobs. They hold up to 2 tonnes of soil and are great for household clean outs. They’re called mini skips but they do hold a surprising amount of waste.

Sometimes, even seasoned skip driver pros can make a wrong move – in this case, driving the skip truck and a builder skip in to a smelly cess pit. I don’t fancy the cleaning job at the end of the day, but luckily help was on hand to rescue the load!

Mini skip hire is mostly popular with domestic properties – they are small, so great for quick spring cleans. They hold up to 30 full bin bags, and are 4 ft long, 3 ft wide and 2 ft deep. We deliver them all over the UK, but for not in London. This is due to lack of demand – nobody in London ever ordered them, so we stopped doing them in that area. We had a call from a customer of ours who had ordered mini skip hire and was undertaking some work in the garden. The next morning, she was carrying on the job when she found a tabby cat mewing. She went over to the skip and there was mother cat and three new born kittens. She scooped them all up and put them in a basket in the airing cupboard with some milk and food.

The cats were all OK, just a bit cold and they’ve now gone to a good home, but it was the last thing she expected to get when she ordered a mini skip from us!
