Our friends across the channel might be keen to rent a skip in the days ahead.
Piles of uncollected rubbish are building in French towns and cities, following protests and strikes about plans to increase the minimum and full retirement age.
Refuse workers in locations such as Marseille (below) have taken action to show their displease at the proposals.
Cities from Paris to Lyon have drawn 3.5 million people onto the streets, according to the country’s unions.
