Nearly a month after Cornwall’s waste collection system appeared to spiral into chaos large piles of recycling were left uncollected in the county’s villages and are said to still be there today.

The trouble began alledgedly when a new waste management contractor began a long-term contract with Cornwall Council as the key provider for dealing with the county’s waste.

Tens of thousands of residents were said to have called the council complaining about missed collections.
