Conference Skips London
The TopSkips blog brings you some breaking waste management industry news – the
‘Food Matters – Towards a Strategy for the 21st Century’ conference has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
To be held in the Capital, the Government run conference skips London this time leaving the question of food waste management still un-tackled. For the first time the Government was to consider all the current trends and challenges in the food waste industry and it was to be a key conference for many in the skip hire industry.
Food waste in their skips is a no-no for many skip hire companies and for good reasons, the ‘Food Matters’ conference (which was to be held on December 9th) was to be a starting point for discussions on better food waste management and will set progress back as it skips London for a later date.
Landfill space running out
The conference was given extra importance by the recent release of the Environment Agency’s ‘Waste Report 2007′ which revealed current landfill site capacities. It shows that London now has just three years left of landfill capacity at 2007 input rates which makes it even more of a set-back that the conference skips London this time around.
