Skip hire industry acknowledges a new form of recycling
A UK provider of recycling and environmental technology based in Cambridge have recently attracted some fresh backing for the commercialisation of its technology for the recycling of plastic and aluminium laminate packaging.
Here, at the heart of our busy skip hire head office we were interested to find out that a syndicate of investors have just secured the deal including Cambridge Enterprise, (the university’s commercialised arm) along with business angels from both Cambridge Capital Group and Cambridge Angels.
Though The Cambridge University syndicate have declined to reveal the exact amount raised it is believed to be some serious Wonga!
Thus far plastic/aluminium laminate packaging has been non recyclable; the company’s patented technology offers a new recycling route. This new technology segregates the material into its constituent components providing clean aluminium that can be used as fuel or chemical feedstock.

Automated Phone Recycling Machines May Prevent Hiring A Skip
A US company is to begin supplying automated phone recycling throughout the United States during 2012 and at Topskips we don’t just provide mini skip hire, midi skip hire and any skip sizes to any area of the UK, we also love to bring you the latest recycling and skip hire news.
The new recycling machine only available in America enables a person to choose their particular mobile handset from the huge list allowing the customer to then put their old handset into the phone recycling machine which then pays out it’s value there and then. The recycling machine will also take old MP3 players, mini disc and CD players.
The US company say that the machine will help towards the larger global problem of recycling this type of technology which becomes obsolete very quickly in the fast-paced home technology market.

Recent skip hire and recycling news reports that Apple now offer cashback and recycling in UK
The new service, currently operated by big company Dataserv, is currently available to anyone in the US but was only offered to Europe recently.
A spokesman for Apple said “Whether it’s an iPhone, iPad, Mac or PC computer, working or not, we’ll take it and determine if it qualifies for reuse and has a monetary value. If it does, the amount will be credited directly into your bank account. If it doesn’t, you can recycle it responsibly through one of our free recycling programmes,”
Once the item looking to be recycled has been valued it can be sent in for a tidy profit and even items with no value can be sent in for free!
This doesn’t mean that this company will take all your waste however when looking to get rid of your old T.V in your skip or using skips and skip hire in general to get rid of things like your fridge-freezer or computer screen there may now be another option. It may also change what skip size you’ll need thus reducing the cost of skip hire.
Makes the saying “Where there’s s*** there’s money” hold true even in this current climate!

Skip Hire in Grimsby
If ever there was a need for skip hire in Grimsby, it would be right now.
This is Norwood Lane in Grimsby, which has been dubbed ‘Britain’s worst road’ after 20 years of flytipping has left stinky mattresses, rotting food and general waste piling up to ten feet high in some places. Peterborough spent £52, 000 trying to clear the area up last year – and it hasn’t made a spot of difference. It looks like the council will need somple people power to help them with the eysore, as a simply cleaning up the mess is giving some individuals a blank canvas to tip.

Rubbish Skips – Where Does All the Waste Go To?
Rubbish skips have come a long way…
Back in the day, most waste was chucked in the skip and sent straight to landfill. Easy…but not environmentally sound. With landfills near to bursting point, there was a need to do something else with the waste. That’s why most waste that now gets thrown in to skips gets recycled. All waste gets separated – metal, glass, rubble, paper and green waste can all be recycled. Some waste, like food waste and certain plastics are sent to landfill – but this accounts for a small percentage of overall waste.
So next time you hire a skip, make sure you book with a company who can boast high recycling wastes – think green!
