£3bn deal to be done creating thousands of dirty jobs
“There’s a credit crunch on don’t you know” and in times of financial turmoil its been proven some people reject eco friendly waste disposal methods such as recycling and skip hire and turn to illegal fly-tipping.
But fear not, recession or no recession, Manchester has a little something planned to make sure fly-tipping decreases and job opportunites rise.
There are plans to invest £3bn in waste treatment and management centres throughout Greater Manchester which would revolutionise the way its residents deal with their waste.
Bacteria will munch through your waste
The money would pay for a massive construction programme which includes five biological treatment plants where rubbish would be converted into enough electrical juice to power over 10,000 homes.
There’d also be sites built to handle rubbish heading to landfill which would instead see it crushed, squeezed and packaged for recycling.
Sounds great and will no doubt be welcomed with open arms as it ticks all the boxes:
- 5000 jobs
- Cleaner communities
- Saving the planet
- Brilliant. Where do I sign.
There’s just one thing bugging me, I’m sure there was another £3bn up for grabs in Manchester recently, cant quite recall what for though?
Ah yes, I remember. Well, I guess they had to do something with it:
- New Transport Network X
- New Waste Management Facilities ?
I wonder what the next £3bn proposal will be if this gets rejected? – Answers on a postcard please.
