Can I Order a Skip Over Christmas?

We thought it would be a good idea to let you know what our opening times for skip hire is over the festive period. They are as follows:

Wed 23rd – Normal hours
Thurs 24th – Half day, close at midday
Mon 28th – Normal hours
Tues 29th – Normal hours
Wed 30th – Normal hours
Thurs 31st – Half day, close at midday

Topskips is then back in on Monday 4th January 2010, ready for a brand new year! If you’re having family to stay over the holidays then it might be a good idea to book a skip to clear out the spare room. You can ring us for more help on 08445 60 77 10 or book online 24/7!

…Oh yes, and we also forgot to remind you that all skip hire that need to go on the highway need to be collected on or around 15th December.

What’s the Biggest Skip I Can Fill With Garden Muck?

The biggest waste skip you can fill with heavy refuse like soil, stone and muck is an 8 cu yd builderskip. Any bigger and the wagon may not be big enough to pick it up – like the wagon in the following clip – check it out!

New and Improved – The Skip Wagon For Kids!

Yesterday, we blogged about the amazing skip hire wagon for kids. Seems we were a bit behind the times, because there’s been an updated version of the original model. This new one is based on a 10 tonne truck including extensive cabin space, padded seats and a nice big orange alarm light on top. It’s a beauty!

Check Out This Skip Hire Lorry – For Kids!

We were very jealous when we saw this video of a fully functional skip hire lorry complete with mini skip on the back, if only we had one of these when were little! And look out for the three point turn – not bad for a whippersnapper!

I’m Doing a Garden Clearout – What Size Skip Do I Need?

We get a lot of people ringing in unsure of what skip size is best for their garden clearout. It all depends on how big your garden is!

If you are lucky enough to have a big garden, then we would recommend an 8 cu yd builderskip. This is 12′ long and 5’6″ wide and is one of our most popular skips. If it sounds too big, think about how big your waste is going to be. Things like bushes and shrubbery can often be really bulky and may not weigh that much but will have take up a lot of space with their branches.

However if you have a small garden, we’d recommend our 4 cu yd midi skip. This is 6′ long and 4′ 3″ wide. It’s always best to go for a skip that might be little bigger than necessary – you never know what you’ll dig up!

And of course, all garden waste is recycled – so you can fill the skip knowing that none of it will go near a landfill tip.
