Mini skip hire prices

A frequent request at Topskips is for mini skip hire prices, which is interesting in that most enquirieis we get are from people who don’t actually know what size a mini skip is – but the phrase “mini skip” has entered the vocabulary in much the same way as “mini cab” relates to private hire taxis, especially in the London region.
In the skip hire industry a “mini skip” is actually a very small skip of about 2 cubic yard capacity. Ironically, very few of these are available in London for skip hire, where the 4,6 and 8 cubic yard “midi skip” and small and large “builders skip” are far more common.
For full dimensions, explanations and audio explaining their uses, go to our skip hire sizes page.
If you need a more visual representation so you can see how these skip sizes relate to the size of people you can view our skip hire videos at Topskips TV.

How much should I pay to hire a skip?

Good question: how much should I pay to hire a skip? It’s exactly the same question I asked when I set up Topskips.com in 2003. The answer is not that simple and depend on many factors. I have put a lot of the questions and answers in a free 7 part email guide called “The 7 Secrets to Successful Skip Hire” (there is an option to read them all in one go) or you can simply register with us – this gives you access to our online skip hire price calculator.
Also, take a look at our skip hire video guides on Topskips TV.

Best Way to Fill A Skip?

We got asked this yesterday: what’s the best way to fill a skip?
Well, I think it’s down to personal perference and what you are actually filling the skip with.
If it’s lightweight stuff, just chuck it in. If it’s soil, you’re going to need either a plank, a skip ramp, or a skip with a drop door (because the weight of soil will prohibit you from doing anything else). The maximum sized skip you can use for soil is an 8 yard builders skip because the weight of a skip filled with soil any bigger than this is impossible, and illegal, to carry on a skip wagon.
If you need a skip with a drop door – just ask one of our skip hire experts on 08445 60 77 10 – we can usually arrange these given a bit of notice.
